With the project “The Internet and my fire department” for the Austrian Federal Fire Brigade Association secured Skills the victory in the category Internal PR & Employer Branding.
The Austrian PR State Award was presented for the 37th time on December 10, 2020. The victory in the category “Internal PR & Employer Branding” went to “The Internet and my Fire Department”. The initiative for responsible use of social media, which was implemented and communicated by The Skills Group together with ÖBFV Medien GmbH and Saferinternet.at on behalf of the Austrian Federal Fire Brigade Association, won over the jury.
Double role model function.
“The Internet and My Fire Department” targets the behavior of the approximately 350,000 domestic firefighters on social networks. After all, as an operational organization, the fire department has a role model function – and anyone who identifies themselves as a member on social media is no longer online in a purely private capacity, but is also helping to shape the image of the fire department on the Internet. The project uses special guidelines and a unique workshop concept to ensure responsible use of Facebook and other social media.
“We are particularly pleased with the award for this project, because it supports the sense of responsibility and communication within the fire department, but at the same time serves as a role model for other emergency organizations – not only in Austria,” says Skills Managing Director Jürgen H. Gangoly, who himself was a member of the volunteer fire department and fire department commander for many years.
Andreas Rieger, Head of ÖBFV Communications and Managing Director of ÖBFV Medien GmbH: “The nomination alone was a great success for us – the fact that we are now actually category winners makes us incredibly proud. We see the award not only as confirmation of this important project, but also as recognition of the achievements and status of the Austrian Fire Brigade and all its members.”
