The “Jeder Mensch” initiative is campaigning for an expansion of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. Based on the idea and the book of the same name by the renowned German writer and jurist Ferdinand von Schirach, it calls for contemporary rights in six articles on the environment, digital self-determination, artificial intelligence, the duty to tell the truth in politics, globalization, and the right to sue for systematic violations of this charter. The initiative aims to recruit people across Europe as supporters and thus achieve the enforcement of the new fundamental rights. In Austria, the well-known human rights expert and UN Special Rapporteur on Torture Manfred Nowak is acting as ambassador together with the Vienna Forum for Democracy and Human Rights.
