50 years of Mars in Austria

Mars Austria did not celebrate its anniversary with an “off-the-shelf” event, but launched the “People for the Planet” initiative to support charitable projects.

“50 Years of Mars Austria” was meant to look to the future and to address the question of how the company can contribute to shaping a better future for all. In line with The Five Principles of Mars – Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency and Freedom – Skills developed the CSR project “People for the Planet”: Mars Austria supported people with visions for solving social problems, enabling them to realise their ideas. Projects with social, ecological, cultural or technical objectives could be submitted, and a jury of seven socially engaged people selected five ideas that were particularly worthy of support.

In addition to the overall concept, Skills was also responsible for the entire execution of the project, including a landing web page, videos for promotion in social media, a social media campaign (Facebook page, YouTube), stakeholder communication, internal communication at Mars, support of the expert jury, as well as the organisation of a “50 Years” celebration, during which the five winners were awarded their prizes.

The success of the initiative is conclusive: a total of 58 projects were submitted, and 25,000 euros in funding was awarded. The landing page recorded 14,296 hits, 60,000 people were reached via Facebook and YouTube, and the teaser video alone was viewed for a total of over 24 hours (1,440 minutes).
